So I'm looking through the schematics on how the ecm communicates with the car and something got my curiosity, how dose a 1990 corvette determine and command the MPG readout? Also if you modify the car with bigger injectors and upgraded parts how would you correct for this? This is more a curiosity thing, I just like to know how stuff like this works.

How much money you got to waste? That is the question. AFAIK, the thing uses pulse width and fuel level to determine how much is used and how much is left. If that is right, you can't change it without going far into the module since it is probably hard coded there. I have 42pph injectors. I know that, the builder knows that and the ECM knows that. The module doesn't and without money, I don't know anyone who will try to reprogram it and it isn't worth it.

Understand, it's a curiosity though. Like tuning the ecm it may be easier than we think but until we dig into it none of us will know.
