Decided I want to replace the radiator in my 92 when I decide to start the work on it. I know Dewitts is the is the way to go but I really hate to spend over $500 for the radiator I want. What else is out there that can handle keeping the LT1 around 200 degrees? Yeah, I know LT1s are supposed to run hot (emissions)but, cats are gutted and smog pump is deleted, and I really don't like the fans running all the time in hot weather.

Why not just fix the system you have. A cleaned up radiator usually does the jub

Manual or Auto? Manual single row can be had for $354 and Auto single row is $384. I know the double row ones are $560 and $530 respectively. Maybe call and ask if they are having a sale soon?
Ecklers had some 3 row radiators on sale for a while. You may check with them and see if any of their stock meets you needs and if they may be having a sale.
As you know it does not matter how big the radiator is if no air is moving thru it. My 94 is all stock and run under 200 when it's 90 or less outside.
Is traffic is minimum where you live and moving forward is not a problem?
But here in Orlando it's 90 -100 many months of the year with lots of traffic and standing still. I have to run (manually operated) secondary fan a lot just to keep things under 210 whether in traffic of not.
But this time of year we have 50 -70s and things are great cause I run 185 - 195 with no overheating problems, it's great………for now.

If it has the plastic side tanks, replace it, they will leak at some point and it would suck to have to pull it again in the near future.
FWIW, Dewitts traditionally has an annual sale sometime in January, so it might be worth waiting if you can.

I kinda wonder why though. I would THINK that it should be designed to be running in at least anywhere in north America and not be dependent on fan tricks to keep it from overheating?
I want all aluminum. Mine cools as intended but I want it to run cooler, without turning the fans on earlier. And yes, Its a six speed and will want a dual core probably.

I installed the DeWitt dual core in my 95 6-speed last winter. Works great, high temps stay around 200 in the summer heat. Installation was snug but smooth.
Just multiply the prices I quoted from his site by 0.85. Up to you if you want single or dual row.
Yeah, I know how figure out the discount. just not sure which one exactly I need since the price mentioned was around $300 and it looks like I need the $529.99 one. Which would be much more than the $300 mentioned after the discount. I want the temps that jpipx is getting. But also, is there another trusted brand that carries a two core for a 92 six speed? I'm not against Dewitt or anything, just wondering what my options are.

I don't know if you can get it cheaper AND as efficient
How is it in stop and go traffic, mostly stop? At 75, it would but I had more issues with running AC and stop and go or major traffic jams
As one would expect, the temp goes up. If there isn't air flow through the radiator, the temp will go...up, no matter what radiator you have.
In temps like those from the day that I took the pic, I'm typically running my AC, so the fans run and in that 'mode', the temps seem to hover around 195-205.
The last auto-x I did, temps were in the mid-high 90's. My wife and I dual drove the car, so the car go no break/cool down. I ran the AC in the grid and the highest the temps got in that mode (low speeds, high loads/rpm, with brief idle times) was 215.

My car goes near to the 260 mark and you have to shut off the AC to bring it down a little. I have other cars that don't bring it so close to the "Red Hot" mark that it makes me uncomfortable

You keep saying "92 six speed". There is no difference between a six speed and an auto when it comes to radiators. The auto requires a trans cooler which is in one of the tanks. If you have a stick car, you simply don't hook any trans cooler lines to the cooler ports in the tank, b/c you don't have any lines to hook up.
