What causes the transverse springs to crack and delaminate like this? Road hazard impact? Heat from exhaust? Other?

You mentioned 'build sheet' - do you actually mean maybe SPID label in the car? The actual 'build sheet' would have spring codes. I'm going to look this evening again for that spring. I called a friend who might have it and he says NOT so .......................

I meant the RPO codes that are in the compartment behind the passenger seat

I have a pair of springs out of a 96. front-fha, rear-nyr.

Your '96 looks like my snapshot on each end? 1 1/4 square pad 3/4 tall best I recall is quite close.
