Antenna help
LoL I bought my first corvette and I'm playing with it fixing little things that needs fixed. The car is a 92 and the power antenna goes up and down with the radio. But the antenna only goes down to the last section of antenna. So I end up with 6" or so sticking out of the car, which looks better than the whole antenna. However I curious if there might be fix to this without replacing the whole unit. Thanks for any help on the matter.

Problem is, sometimes the ribbon's broken piece is still in the motor housing, not allowing the new ribbon to feed 100% in.
If that's the case a new motor (like $175 or so) is the best fix. Another DIY job if you have the patience. I Check eBay for used units and parts, to save a little cash...But I'm cheap! LOL

I had to grind off the plastic tabs they melted over to seal the antenna motor shut instead of using screws but it was very easy to use 1/4" screws to reassemble it. Worked flawlessly for years until I sold it. If you are mechanical and have patience it's very do-able.
