C4 Corvette Styling Changes Over the Years
By Brett Foote
The C4 Corvette was a rolling revolution that ushered in a completely new design direction for America's sports car. Here's how to tell them apart!

Fast forward many years, kids grown, and I owned my second 1978 SA (this time with 4 speed, still have it), and 82 CE, two tone silver 1984 auto Z51 (oh yeah), red 1988 4+3 and my auto burgundy 1990.
Now in my early 60s I have my 1978 SA and the burgundy 1990, and regrets at selling the 1988 4+3 (and the others too, for that matter).
I love all Corvettes, every year, especially the C7s. But, with no snark intended, I keep thinking of the C4s as the most Adult Corvettes, because of the relatively muted and very clean timeless styling. My Red 1990 always gets beeps, thumbs up, friendly conversations, and really seems to brighten up people whenever they see it. Ditto for the 1978 SA.
I like that people like these cars. And I like driving them, tinkering with them, washing and waxing them, reading about them, writing about them, and being thoroughly obsessed with them. What a great hobby.
Yeah, they're all great. But I especially like the C4s, after all these years they still look to me like spacecraft on wheels.

It's about time.
