I had this air injection system on my 92 Trans Am, it was nothing but a pain in the butt. I took it all off, pump and all. I cleaned up the engine compartment a lot. This one had the air tubes going into the exhaust with threaded fittings. I just unscrewed them and put pipe plugs in. Can I do that on my 84? The air tubes look pressed or welded into the exhaust manifolds. My plan was to just cut and crimp then off. Then get rid of the rest of the plumbing. Thanks

On the LT1/4 it was threaded in. I eliminated the air injection on my 96 when I did headers and it does really clean up the engine bay.

I was looking at the stock manifolds for those cars and wow what a mess:

Yes, you can knowing a good welder to fill holes flush would help with appearance. If car isn't used in frigid weather the hot air tube could also be removed.

On my 99, I cut them off close to manifold and had them welded closed
