Can anyone tell me the best adhesive to use when joining the smc top back to its frame? I have cleaned the whole frame and top

I used silicone on mine. Got a nice bead between the top and the frame. I then put the top back on, locked it in and placed several very heavy objects on the roof to be certain it set. The next time I took the top off I cut away the excess so it looks neat and clean. It's been a year and it's still holding.

This topic comes up often enough that I posted a DIY procedure a while back. Several people have tried the RTV Silicone adhesive, and have had their tops come loose again. The RTV is really hard to clean up for the next attempt, because nothing will stick to it! Here's a link to my procedure:
