Default Targa Top Screw

1987 4+3 manual trans

So while putting the top back on, in the dark, I placed a screw in the cup holder. It fell into the hole there. I almost got it, but then gone.....

I'm pretty sure it went left (shifter side)

So, should I be worried, or just get another screw?

If it's a similar design to my 96 they it will just go down the side of the carpet, shouldn't interfere with the transmission. On my 96 it is super easy to take off the middle piece though, not sure if the 87 is just as easy.

I'm not positive on the layout of the 4+3 under the center plate but on the autos, the bolt could potentially wedge itself somewhere and cause problems. You can get the center plate off pretty easy, maybe 15 minutes. Take the dash bezel off, radio/DIC bezel off, and then the center plate. I would go and find the bolt just because I'd hate to hear it rattling around.

It does look like it's easy to take off.
Thanks, that is the right thing to do.

No problem, I'd just worry that if something on the manual was hinged down there, that you could run into serious trouble. On an auto, you may not be able to shift to park or whatever, but in a manual, you may miss a gear, or get stuck in a gear, and that could end badly.

It should be pretty easy to fish out the bolt with one of those "magnet on a stick" tools. Good luck.
