Default Targa Top question..

So my targa top is not the original top that came with the car.. I believe the OG was lost to the FRC.

My issue is that the brackets on the top did not line up with the receptacles on the windshield and had to be loosened in order to line up correctly. Now that the brackets are loose, its rattle city and driving me crazy.

I need to tighten these bolts:

But how can I tighten them without moving them ever so slightly so that they become misaligned again??

I can get it in just the right spot, then when I go to tighten the bolts, it moves the whole bracket and Im back at square 1!

Lol that's my issue, when ever I try to even snug the bolts at all they end up moving in the slightest.. then when I get all done and attempt to put top bk on I find that one or both brackets have shifted during the tightening process..

But I guess your right.. I'll just have to keep at it, attempting to tighten the bolts as carefully as possible.

Very odd. Did you recently change tops? Only thing I can think of, maybe it is an early year targa. But only if you replaced the top. I had an astro top on my ruby that flew off. That thing was junk.

yes I did have to change tops.. the original top was pretty messed up so I found one at a local vette junk yard that was in better shape but I think it has structural issues.

Yea that makes sense. I bet that is the most probable cause of the weird fitment.

That is the 89 and up targa hardware. You need to adjust the mounting hardware on the car side and the targa side together.

This link describes in depth adjusting the fitment of the targa top:
