Vats?

Is the '85 and earlier anti theft system dependable or is it also plagued with problems like the '86 and up VATS?

85 doesn't have vats. Far as I know any other anti-theft things (Like alarm etc) are the same between the 85 & 86,

Vats started in 86. Before that corvette had a starter interrupt

The theft deterrent system for your 1985 is rather dependable and works well as long as it is working as it was designed.

The VATS system was added and added an additional layer to the car so it can not be able to be stolen easily due to the chip in the key.
