Plating?
I know we have some polishers out there (Beautiful work, but it makes me tired just looking at it.), is anyone home anodizing or chrome, gold or nickle plating their parts?
If so, what do you use? Where do you get supplies?
What kind of expense are we talking about and on a 1/10 scale how is the finished product compared to a commercial plater?
As good? Almost as good?
Thanks!

the cost to have that done (to a LT5 engine) is detailed here:

$1700 to $2400 'ish.
Powder coating intakes is not too terribly expensive. Plating requires polishing or the finished product isn't smooth and shiney. When I worked in a defense shop many years ago, the military specified anodized aluminum and the finer the products were machined, the better the piece looked as anodizing is very thin.
I am thinking powder coating might be the best alternative (in my opinion). it hides a lot of imperfections. I actually would like to have the alternator split apart, the same with the A/C pump and have them powder coated but that is an expense I cannot afford (that is why I said like).
an alternative, if you don't mind natural metal color, is to clean the part really good of all dirt, corrosion etc to where it appears to be new bare metal and then use one of Eastwood's bare metal clear.
I am going to use that on the Dana 44 assembly (batwing, carrier, drive and half shafts, actually all external parts). I am going to spray them with satin finish clear.

plus they have rattle cans

Powder coating is something I do already.. The Harbor Freight kit and a used stove work great. (Along with better powders, HF's are junk)
Specifically interesting in home plating.. If it's worth it? How well it works? Costs.. Etc.
