John504,
Thanks for your reply.
That is a terrible experience, sorry to hear.
Do you know what years and models are all interchangeable?
I've had bad experiences with Napa.
Once with power steering hose. I had to press the pulley on and off several times.
Where would you recommend I get a booster.?
Thanks
the last booster to fail was from GM. I don't know what to recommend...... as stated my Vette specialty shop thinks ALL of the boosters are single source. they have seen failure on 3-4 c4's now and they don't know what to recommend either. you might want to try to find a metal body booster if available, no way it could be any worse.
your doing the right thing by replacing whats wrong, On one chevy I had (not a vette) one brake wouldnt release. Darn thing actually caught on fire after about a mile test drivel Used snow to put it out. Folks, we gotta keep out brakes in first rate working order just a 7th vette is doing. my hats off to you sir.
Thanks Ghostrider.
I installed the new brake hoses and the original master cylinder. Put the pads and caliper back on. Let fluid drip through the system till it came out the bleeders.
Nothing more to do till I get the booster.
I appreciate everyones help.
Well it's a bummer.
I put the booster on.
The brake pedal just flops around the top 3 inches.
Then it feels like it hit a rock.
The pedal never pumps up. I get about 2inches of travel that I can use to bleed the brakes.
Also now the brake light is on.
So I ordered a master cylinder & will install it tomorrow.
Thanks for trying to help, I can't adjust 3" of pedal movement with a 1/4 of adjustment on the intermediate rod.
To me, if a new master cylinder doesn't work, I'm going to sail the car off a bridge, 😂
If I pull it out of the river I guess I'll try wheel calipers.
$270 so far.

I still can't push the caliper piston back.
I loosened the line and I can.
I'm thinking Napa crappa master cylinder didn't even last one year.
Thanks guys I'll get one tomorrow and try that.
FWIW. The replacement parts coming out of the auto parts box stores is full on crap these days.
Even NAPA which I've regarded as better than than most is still garbage.
Beeter off anyways with the steel booster, I had 2 crack in 2 years then found the steel one at pep boys(got it under warranty), am tired of replacing them from cracks
out here in
Cali.
Great. Might have saved some work if you had taken my post #10 seriously. Glad you got it fixed. Dan
Yes sir, Everyone had plausible solutions.
I'm glad I have new hoses also.
I did waste $120 and a lot of work on that booster.
The thing is, when you recently replaced a part, master cylinder, you tend to believe that it can't be that part.
Live and learn, I'm just glad you guys got my back .
Thank you everyone.
