What Will Your Winter C4 Project Be?

New higher output headlamps.
Repair the AC controller. (Currently directs air at the heater and defroster. I believe it has the collapsed rubber cone connectors in it)
New tires. Hopefully with some new wheels if I can find the right ones at a good price.
And hopefully some no salt roads to drive it some. Maybe a trip or two.

If I get time, I will also pull the seats and dash and redo all of the seals on the HVAC system. It's working fine, but due to age, it's blowing small pieces of rotted foam out the vents every once in a while. Good time to re-dye the dash as well.

1. Finish a complete overhaul of the Dana 44 I purchased. New bearings, seals, posi-clutches, batwing bushings etc. I am going to stick the ends of the stub shafts in EvapoRust, then paint them. I will finish cleaning the case and batwing down to bright metal, then they will get painted with Eastwood's bare metal clear. Might wait till spring to paint.
I tried to find new stub shafts, but there are none out there and if I do find a pair, they are probably going to be expensive. It doesn't need them, but since I am doing the car to a particular level of finish, I would have liked to have them.
I will be finishing cleaning the C-beam, drive and halfshafts and painting them with the clear also. They will get new u-joints installed.
2. Put in the Banski rear suspension, new Bilsteins and sway bar bushings. I also have the Banski pin top shock mounts. 36 years ago I made a similar set out of Teflon and stainless for the '65 I had. Needless to say, they work great.

3. I too have to fix the HVAC issue. Same old 1996 issue as discussed above.
4. Then in the spring, the real fun begins. I have a set of Del-alum front bushings to install along with the new shocks up front and maybe new wheel bearings. There is a vibration in the front end. I have a feeling sitting for 10 yrs may have hurt the bearings.
After this the engine gets worked on. If I decide to put in a stroker crank, I can get away with a simple hone, the engine (actually car) is low mileage. I have a set of heads to send to LLoyd Elliot to have ported and 2.00 valves put in. I have 1.6 RR, a Hot Cam, headers, new timing chain, new Opti, MSD 6AL box, coil and wires. After I sell a couple more of my other toys, (hunting is no longer viable when you can't walk well) I am getting a set of 30lb Bosch 3's.
It might take me all winter, spring and summer, but when it is done, it will be a reasonably lively cruising machine. I am building it for the long drives in the country, and overall driving pleasure. I bought a 3.07 D44 to stay with the current 3.07 ratio (the D36 will get sold). 3.07's are great for driving. I have no plans for any kind of racing with it, so they are fine.
