Tachometer
I know thw fix is replacing a bad resister behind the guages, but I opted to add an after market tachometer instead.
So here is my question. I am feeding the new Tach with the single wire that comes off the negative side of the ignition coil. It works great....can I clip the wire going to my in dash tach without affecting anything else? Or does that single wire aslo provide information to the computer...?
Am I doing something wrong on this site, I seldom get answers or maybe I just dont know how to use the site?
Carl.. Thanks for any help....

If so, I cant think of any reason why this would be a problem, but you could just splice into it by stripping the insulation and soldering in a section to connect to the aftermarket unit; that way, if you ever fix the original and want to remove the aftermarket unit, you just cut that wire and tape it off and your done.

Batee sells the voltage divider to replace to bad one which would cut the time to repair considerably. I'd guess their part would cost only a few $, but waaay less than an aftermarket tach.
So... I hope you have another reason to replace the stock tach with some add-on tach.
