Tuner in NE Ohio Area
Hey All,
I've been thinking about doing some future upgrades to my '96 LT1. Before I proceed I want to see if there are any tuners in my area. So, has anyone in NE Ohio or a 3-4 hr radius found a good tuner? The availability of tuning will probably determine what, if anything, I do with the car. I'm very happy with how it runs, but there's always room for more fun.
Thanks

Isnt the 96 the weird one?
there is pcmforless - but i remember alvin (he lives in north carolina) did my tune.
big shot dyno (stow, ohio) used to do tuning but its been awhile since ive used them. They partner’d with pcmforless (or owned them? I cant remember)
again though no idea if they can do a 96.
i ended up getting the cables and software, moates ostrich adapter so i now do the tuning myself on my 93
good luck

The whole issue IS the '96 being a 1 yr b*stard child.
I called a lot of the folks and the answer was:
1. no no no
2. we don't do that anymore
3. there is one out west towards the LaGrange area that will tune the car for you if you buy a Jet interface
4. PCMforLess in Stow said they can
5. buy a Jet box and learn to do it yourself.
6. wait a couple more years until we don't have to do E-check anymore and convert it back to a '95 PCM
7. wait a couple more years and convert to the Torq Head product http://torqhead.com
8. get exempt plates and do 6 or 7 now. if you do 7 the engine will run so much better. this one might be in my future eventually

Wow, thanks for all the great info. Really appreciated. I had a feeling I'd have trouble with tuning because it's the only C4 with OBDII which ironically is why I bought a '96. I'll take a look at the different products and give those shops a call. Thanks again.

There is a bit of HP available if you incorporate some the standard 96 LT4 hardware, such as a roller timing chain and full roller rockers, instead of the stamped steel ones. If you simply went with a LT4 Hotcam kit, and a roller timing chain, the PCM would accommodate it and you would have a bit funner car.

I live just south of the OP. I called every shop in the area I could find. As I noted above, a couple could do it. One with caveats, the other PCMFORLESS can do it.One in Cuyahoga Falls said they could, but I am not so sure that they really have the equipment and understood about the issues with the 96 Vette and 97/97 Camaro.
