CAGS bypass installation difficulty?
While learning to "properly" shift my "new" '89 smoothly I keep getting distracted by having to avoid 2nd. I'm guessing that the "sound" from trying 2nd is not good for the synchro.
Bitching aside, I'm wondering if the CAGS connector is located on the lower part of the ZF6 case? Looks like it from the FSM view but said doc. has been misleading in the past.
Also, can the CAGS cable location be easily accessed with the Vette up on a jack, in order to install the bypass plugs?

Yes, you can easily access it and just unplug it.

Burning Brakes
As Chump said just unplug it. But when it works there should be no "grinding" just the shifter going into 4th. If you pause for just a moment you can go from 1st to 3rd and its not as much of a drop.

Good news that it's easily accessible while jacked, thanks.
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bypass kit.
Not being allowed to shift into 2nd while crossing the damn parking lot, for example, is ridiculous.
Indeed, on the street I sometimes do the 1-3 upshift, a PITA while developing smooth up/down shifts.
Thanks again, guys.

So I had thought... Hard to see side of tranny using mirror & flash light due to "X" brace.
I don't think the pic in my '89 FSM is an accurate depiction.
If I don't get it tomorrow I'll ask the shop while getting oil change & lube.
First I'll look at the CAGS relay; maybe just pull the Dk/Grn wire.

It's difficult to reach the CAGS Sol. due to the "X" member/
After studying the wiring diagram I located the CAGS relay on the left front fender well under the brake MC.
Looks like I can either remove the Dk/Grn wire (powers the Sol) or pull it from the relay to disable CAGS.
Worst case I'll cut the wire and heat shrink tubing over both ends...simple.
Since there is no feedback path to the ECM it will be far simpler than getting the Vette high enough to access the Sol.

I selected the Dk Grn wire as there is nothing on the output of the Relay save for the Sol.
Couldn't get the damn clip out of the relay so finally just cut the wire and taped it.
Took her for a test drive till coolant temp. was >171 (required for ECM to force CAGS) and did a few nice low RPM 1-2 upshifts...hooray, it works.
Also tried a few smooth downshifts but still need (much) work on heel/toe...
BTW, though I wasn't sure when I drove to check it out, I love the MN6. Though I'm far from being a "kid" anymore, it's still fun to row through the gears.
