Quick release steering wheel

1989 automatic

Because of back issues, I have been looking at doing a quick release steering wheel. There are numerous kits out there for that purpose. Anyone try it yet?

I have an NRG quick release and NRG steering wheel. It works, but i rarely take the wheel off anymore. It was more practical when i had fixed back race seats in the car.

Could you use ome steering wheel or did you have buy different steering wheel?

Pretty sure you would have to go aftermarket. The quick release hubs mount steering wheels with a 6 bolt pattern. You will have to lose your airbag as well, if you have one.

No AirBag on an 89'. Many of us have done it. Do a search, a few nice write ups.

Much better than the spongey school bus wheel.
