Default Help with sensor

Can someone say what sensor is that. Its not connected and i dont see any spare wires or connectors around. Its between 1 and 2 cylinder soark plugs.

I understand that its temperature sensor, but i have my gauge working and fan turns on automaticly just before 90 degrees celsius.

What year and I believe you mean between 1 & 3 NOT 1 & 2? On many L98 '86 + w/aux fan that would be for a cooling fan mounted forward of the rad/cond module.
