If you had the choice of a brand new C4 anything but callaway.... would you rather the brand new C4 or a 2018-19 brand new mustang, and why. The idea being how much do you really love a C4 for what it is and how does it compare to today's cars for you. I figure some Z's now go for the 25kish that some guys are getting GTs for.
- I'd consider a Z but go Mustang..
- Higher resale, maybe more fun.

Current gen Mustang ? If so, I would take one of them in a heartbeat. A friend of mine has one and they are very quick cars.
Now if you are talking about a new C4 era fox body then the C4 would be my choice.
What....and have the same car everyone else on the block has? If it's not a Mustang, it's a Challenger or Camaro. The market is so over populated with those "fleet rental cars". Nothing special about them now. I'm tired of seeing them.
I had a 1990 Mustang (actually it and an 84 1/2 GT 5.0) and now the 96 Vette (prior to that a 65 Vette, 80 Camaro, 69 Chevelle 396 and a 383 1969 Roadrunner).
I keep coming back to the Vettes.
Knowing what I know now, I would order a Z51 1996 Mn6 Arctic White C4 with torch red interior (and get the LT4 engine) over a Mustang or a 95 in the same with the LT5. The Mustang was a maxxed out LX 5.0, the only difference between it and a GT was a couple skirts and a different nose. It drove smooth and was quick, but it still was a steel bodied car and it had issues. The tops of the struts would move. At that time I couldn't find the anchors that they have nowadays to keep the struts in place. I had the rest of the Saleen chassis components on it.
This is assuming we are talking about cars from the same general era.
The only thing the 90 Mustang had that was better was the seats. The ones in the 90 had all kinds of adjustments and were very very comfortable.
I'd owned Camaros, including two IROC-Zs for >25yrs and no longer want/need a car that carries >2 people.
Which is why after my IROC-Z went to the bone-yard I picked up the current '89 Vette.
If I could have any new '89 equipped the way I wanted it the choice would be my "new" '89, MN6 vert.
So if were talking about the newest Mustang, Ill say Id take the newest ZR-1 Id take a 95 ZR-1 Dunn Heads Pretty much any color combo is fine with me.
Why? Mustangs are like bar flies... they're everywhere! On top of that, they're ugly....
If I would rarely drive it and use it for shows and cruise-in's then a black on black 90 ZR1. Just my favorite year.
If it is to drive more frequently and do some strip/stop light fun the new Mustang GT all the way.
I remember shopping between an SRT 6.4 Challenger and a new C6. The Dodge guys said "Everyone has one!" to which I replied to about 5 guys "Do you?" Answers were all a resounding "No." Then I asked if any of their best friends did ,or their fathers ,monthers, sisters, brothers, cousins...ets and again it was crickets. At any rate, just because you see lots of them doesn't mean that's bad or a reason not to own one. Case in point. Let's say the population switches to 99.999% of women are super model/actress/fitness models....etc So, because they are not the norm and everywhere are you going to choose a Rosie O'Donnell because you don't want to be like everyone else? I mean, who would want a hot woman if everyone else has one? Give me a hogger, amirite? lol
Hmmmmm.....Decisions, Decisions. I'm assuming you're theorizing about getting the car for free. So, I would take the lowest mileage, best condition, Torch Red with tan interior 1995 ZR1. Hey, this is hypothetical right?
Since I already have a 95 ZR-1 (red/red) with the dual Dunn heads, the question becomes would I trade it for a new Mustang. Answer - No. If I wanted a Mustang, I would have bought a Mustang. They do not interest me the way that Corvettes do.
