to any of my 85 friends -- if you are thinking about trashing your smog pump, remember, it's a one year only part. replacements are tough to find - even rebuilds, since cores are scarce. I once saw an, in the box, NOS assembly for $500 (asking). keep it, along with mounting hardware as part of the car. at some point, these things (in this case 85's), are going to become more valuable and originality will become important. somewhere down the road, someone may just want to put it back to factory configuration.

Nothing. It pushes the alternator further out a couple inches which creates more clearance between it and my headers.

I was told I can greatly reduce my 0 to 60 time and 1/4 time by dropping it off I high cliff.

Absolutely, as long as the cliff is a quarter mile high

Only "restrictor" in the intake is the lovers over the air cleaner. Cut those away and add a K&N for increased air flow.
As mentioned most benefit from the AIR pump deletion is ease of working on front of the engine.

If your L98 still as the "frisbee" on the water pump pulley, remove it for a little HP gain (~10chp) when accelerating.
A 160deg T-stat will bring some extra HP as well.

These are the first "mods" I did to my "new" '89, though the prior owner had graciously already installed a 160deg T-stat.
I'm too lazy/cheap to install a fan sw, so I just turn on the A/C when in traffic and then off again when traffic clears and I want/need the HP.

@65Z01
How does the K&N (Air Filter) improve the airflow over a standard one?

It is supposed to increase air flow and to better clear the air.

10? Sure about that? Sounds kinda optimistic.

I doubt it makes that much without more work, does it?
