Do I have a FRANKEN-VETTE??
I think my C4 might be a Frankenstein.
I think I might have a 1993 LT1 in my '92.
Let me explain.
I was watching a Corvette Central video on how to tell the different C4s apart,
It was a great video.
When covering the 1993 C4, the guy notes that in '93 they did away with the magnesium rocker covers from '92 and used composite ones from then on, making the '92 LT1 unique in that regard.
I opened the hood of my 1992 coupe and verified that I have composite covers.
Now I need to figure out if the engine has been swapped, just the covers have been swapped, or did they start using the composite cover during 1992 as they started switching over?
Anybody have any ideas?
Where is that damn pad on my block with the serial number so I can see if the car is numbers matching?
Thanks!!

I think the composite covers came in 94. Either way, many have swapped them over. It's far more likely that you have just the valve covers swapped compared to an engine from a 93.

You might check the VIN DERIVATIVE - I believe '93 is correct for the change. Many have changed.to composites. There's multiple engine components that could be used for verification but I believe '92 would have the same location for VIN DERIVATIVE as this image displays. Substitute N ('92) for model year.

PO was power shifting 2nd to 3rd, but missed and went in to 1st gear by mistake. Told me the engine over-revved (ya think?) and naturally the transmission suffered irreputable harm. Don't know if the engine suffered damage, I think not because of the rev limiter, but PO told me replaced the trans, clutch, flywheel.

I figured you'd be a black tag guy.
