I'm replacing my instrument cluster and have the dash removed. I understand the timer module is way up somewhere.
I'm wondering if I can access it from above someplace. I don't really see anything that looks like it. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have pics looking through the windshield but I'm not sure they will help. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

I had to replace mine it is a pain in the you know what. You remove the computer(pull it down) and up along the wiring harness you will see a black small box. This is passenger side looking up.
They kind of taped it to the harness so it is hard to bring down enough to grab it.. Unplug and replug.

So you're saying it's not likely I can find it from above???

Had the dash pad off mine at one time, could not get to it that way. Could not see it from below either. I plan to ultimately either remove the breadbox or the seat to get in there to replace mine.

Bread box was my next idea. How complicated is that???

EDIT: I'm 73 years old and not as nimble as I used to be, so I'm looking for a way to do it without crawling under the seat or removing the seat.

Being an '85 and if it were original to the car take a look at this snapshot. This would I think be original to an '85. The taped to harness device I though maybe '86 & later. This guy has an '86 'vert and says 'just hangin'. Might be worth a look.

This might be an interesting read!!

Do you believe I can get to it if I remove the breadbox. I don't want to take the box out and discover that won't work either.

That may work. The easiest way is to use a mirror and an extension with a socket. Place a nice blanket down for the knees.
Take the 2 bolts out for the computer cover. Bring down the computer. Then lay back with a blanket or something and up there it
is right nect to the harness. .
Also if you are working on the car with the dooe open remove the interior light fuse, It can really save your timer because it gets hot .

Thanks xrav22, a perfect pic to get me started. I will work on it this week and let you know results. I don't want to lose track of my main objective which is to replace I/P. I've got a $150.00 core charge riding on that also.

If you can reach the top of the ECM you should be all set. Maybe you'll be lucky and have a 'hanger' like the fellow with that '86 I linked to.
