Default Window Issue today

. I have a 85 C4 and finally got time to get it out of of garage. When I lowered passenger window it did not want to go down and then I heard a snap and it went down. Only to find out it would only go half way on the way back up. So I pulled glass up and wedged cardboard, since it was otw to get the front bumper resprayed. Question is. i'm guessing its the ribbon of read about? or maybe something different since the window still goes up and down. Don't wanna order parts I may not need. Should have car back by end of week so would like to get whatever parts and tools i may need to fix. ty

My 94 would get caught on one of the guides and stick like that. Ended up removing it for the time being. Plan is to get it all adjusted when I have the time, because right now, when the window is up, it catches on the body when you open the door.

sounds like the ribbon cable. If I remember right they are riveted in and a pain to change, been many years. You can also order the later style window mechs that are a much better design and roll up and down faster. I ended up buying a used set and swapping my old style out. Thats probably easier than replacing the cable it self

Since you can pull the glass up, there's only one answer. Your guess is right. (Totally different system than the '94.)

PM your address to me. I'll send you a ribbon . . . free.

Yes most likely the ribbon. It's a PIA but not really hard. A milk crate and a thick towel to sit on helps.

Clean all the slides, I use graphite instead of the old stand by - white grease which attracts dirt and jams up the slides.

If I remember right you need a pop rivet tool and a drill. Drill out the old rivet and pop in the new one.
