Default advice on a gmc/chevy truck that has similar engine architecture as the early c4

Howdy all. Ive gotten to know the early c4 L98 very well.

Were there any years of chevy k2500 or k3500 (even k1500 i suppose) that has similar engine architecture as the L98 with an hei dizzy and fuel injection?

Im looking for a replacement camp truck. Prefer chevy/gmc interiors.

towing boats to and from lake, leaves, rocks wood etc.

….. 92-99 GM trucks had an anemic (180hp) 5.7L with TBI and small cap HEI … you'd be better off with a nice torquey L98 in your truck …..

96-99 had the vortec with ~260hp.... the 88-95 tbi trucks were anemic and did suck.
The late model 2500/3500 trucks with the 350 are a hybrid between l98 and lt1. Distributor is all digital like opti but is a cap and rotor type like HEI. Uses no mechanical advance either. They're very basic systems but are obd2 so code readers actually help alot. I've had 3. 2 dually dumps and a utility body. Decently quick and tow well, if you can work on tpi they're no more difficult to learn, same principals apply.

454 for towing. The TBI were gutless but reliable and get the job done. 80s/90s era are cheap look for a T400 trans

I have a 1991 with a 454 that I am restoring. It will pull the house down the road. There were different 3/4 ton pickups in 1991. My truck is a 8600 GVWR truck. It is a 4x4 and has the 8 lug full floater rear axle. Gas mileage is not the best, I put a MSD box in it to pick up a couple mpg's.

Once it is done, I suppose I will convert it to roller cam and rockers, or just sell it as I also have a diesel 2004 4x4. However, it would be cool to get a trailer and pull the 96 vette to car shows with a 91 truck.

If you can find one of these, it would make an excellent truck, however the front actuator for the 4 wheel drive is hard to find. (or was). Parts list have a completely different part listed than what was used in building these trucks.

The square body as they're called now 1973 -92. The round from 88-02. So there are plenty of choices. A c4 700r4 would bolt to a transfer case adapter. Suburbans are another option. The vortec had PCM underhood. 87-95 PCM is under dash if it matters.
