Hi All,
I have finally taken apart my interior on my 89 C4 convertible to do work on the dash lights install a new booster fan switch for a new fan, gauge lights etc.
My problem now is..when I turn on my headlights they come on as they should. My brights work just fine. When my low beams are on and I turn on my fog lights the brights come on and the fog lights stay off. They don't even come on with just the parking lights on. I just went out to try another combination of brights on and to turn the fog lights on and now the headlights won't come on...
Any ideas on what needs to be done? I'm not putting anything back together until it's corrected. My headlights are LED if that makes a difference.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
The fog light bulbs ground through the Hi Beam filaments. They can't ground through the LED,s, but the polarity of the LED's allows the LED's to illuminate instead.
The easiest way to remedy the issue is to find the ground wires for each fog light bulb, cut the wire (so the connection to the high beam circuit is severed) and ground each fog bulb directly to the chassis. You'll have Fog Lights with Park or Head, High or Low beam, any time the fog switch is ON.
I'm on it!!!! Thanks so much. I will report back as soon as I'm finished...
Hi,
I have green and purple to the fog lights, my guess is the green is the ground. I'm not sure where the fog light relay is (89 C4) and which wire is ground on it.
Finally after ten years of not having them!!!!. Thanks so much. Now I need to find a place for my rocker switch. I might check back after I try my lights on the road....

I disagree. Easiest way was to plug a resistor from Superbrightleds in line with the bulb. No mini-bulb splices or any wiring cutting or rerouting.
His car is fixed. Took him about an hour from the time I first posted to the time he posted it was done. I doubt he had the part or knowledge on hand.
I see. I agree that if your question is based on "What can I make up in the next 5 minutes.", my suggestion falls flat since he would have to look up the answer here which we don't know he has the capability to do or not, find the part, etc. I do think that if I can wait a few days, it would be a neater solution that is Plug and Play and easily reversible should I want to sell the car. Or is that Bullshit to you?
Everything's fine...I got my lights and was able to do it within my capabilities and with supplies that I had on hand. So thank you to everyone who helped.
Now I have to reinstall my booster fan as I turned the blades when I shouldn't have...
