I did the resistors soldered in the wiring and never looked back on my wife's 95 LT1. Was not aware of getting a prom done at the time.
Thanks for that information Jared.
Is there a problem or are you just jumping on the VATS delete bandwagon?
I'm not sure if you could call it a bandwagon.
It's antiquated technology that served it's purpose, I can't think of one good reason why I would want to repair or maintain the anti theft technology in a 31 year old car. That's akin to having your VCR repaired nowadays. Get rid of the VATS before it leaves you stranded somewhere.
My S10 got the VATS delete prom because I didn't want to swap over the ignition from the IROC the engine was pulled from. My Vette has soldered in resistors because the PO's now ex-wife "lost" the keys.
If you don't have any useful information to post about the OP's question..... why even say anything? That is unless you're just looking for a debate.

Look at the posts. "My car doesn't start. Is it VATS?". Car cranks but no fire. VATS. No investigation done. Blame VATS.
I've had VATS in my 91 Firebird and my 91 Corvette. Neither has ever left me stranded because of VATS. I don't disagree with your conclusion. It is the premise that VATS is so fragile and about to break that I disagree with.
If I lose my keys to my newer cars, it is several hundred bucks for a dealer to get me one. THAT is on you, or in your case, ex-wife.
I apologize. I didn't know that asking why something is being done is a crime.

I didn't read anything in his post that said his car wouldn't start. He asked about VATS bypass options. Didn't sound that complicated to me.
Read my post better next time, I didn't lose ****, and neither did my ex-wife. The PO of my 88 Vette had resistors installed because of his keys going missing because of HIS ex-wife. THAT is certainly not on me!!
I try not to answer questions that haven't been asked. In short, I don't make assumptions.
Mr Kettle, what was my question to prompt your suggestions again?
Unfortunately the whole pot kettle thing doesn't work in this instance.... and you missed the point entirely. I see so many of your posts that come off as argumentative, or passive aggressive. It never seems to me that you are actually trying to help someone, you try too hard to prove to everyone else that you are smarter then they are and discount a lot of the information provided by others. I have yet to stumble upon a post of yours where you were actually agreeable.
Saying something like "jumping on the VATS delete bandwagon" is a perfect example of a passive aggressive statement. We're all obviously idiots for defeating VATS.

Thanks for the psychobabble but I don't need to blame a bad childhood or someone, etc so I don't really pay it any attention.
So sorry you don't like the way I put it. I'm not in politics so unless there is a check or sex involved, it won't bother me too much how you perceive me.
If proving myself smarter gets me anything worthwhile, sure. In this case, regardless of how I come across to you, it won't improve my career or finances so not sure where you psychoanalysis is going.
Defeating VATS simply because it could fail IS idiotic. Disabling it because you haven't done your homework to ascertain that it HAS failed is idiotic as well. Going through the trouble and disabling properly so it can't come back to bite you because it HAS failed and you can't get the parts to fix it or it isn't worth the money to fix is an entirely different story. This is no different from me changing a sensor out because I have a problem and haven't done the diagnostic work to determine what it is.

Wow, that was a mouthful to read out loud while giggling to myself.
