Default Trunk carpet

Been searching for a replacement carpet for my hatch, seems like the vendors sell it only as a whole rear cargo area kit for like 200$. I don't need most of it, only the main piece, anyone seen that for sale by itself?

I may have to buy a rubber liner and custom make my own rubber floor for it.

Yes. Forget about the vendors, they just want to sell you packages. Go directly to the source they all use: accmats.com. Don't search under trunk mats, search under floor mats and you'll find it there.

Here is the link on a search I did using my own '86 as an example: --> 9223 Cargo Mat 1984-1996 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Cargo Mat 1pc Cutpile

That looks to me like a mat that goes on top of the carpet. I need the carpet piece that goes up the back wall and floor. Over the years, that piece has shrunk and the part that holds it to the back wall has ripped.

Now that I look at it again, it sure does look just like a flat mat. Why not give them a call anyway and see what they have to say? Since they make all the carpet everyone sells, they may be able to work with you on a special order. What's the worst they can say? No. But you may be surprised and they may very well set you up. The call is free!

Mine did the same thing. I was able to use some plastic washers and Gorilla tape to repair the holes then rehang it on the hooks. Can't be seen when it's done. Has been that way for about two years.

I tried everything to fix mine. Tape, epoxied metal washers in, mine just doesn't have enough material left there to grab on to. I considered making a sandwich of metal plates to reinforce the area, but the carpet also has shrunk in width and so doesn't quite fit right.

You might try a smaller local upholstery shop to see if they would duplicate it for you. I did that with some front floor mats and was pleasantly surprised at the result and the cost. --Bob

My concern would be is how faded is the whole rear carpet area. And how will it look with "new" carpeting against the old "faded" parts?

You might try some heavy duty Velcro. I used that on mine and during sound deadening work last summer and it is holding up well.
