Default booster $ettlement with A1

After 3 months of back and forth BS, I caved and settled with A1 Cordone over the 5 !!!!!!!!!! POS boosters put on my CE in 1 ! year . $560 to me and $520 to a shop that replaced 1 at no charge to me. What a screw job. I did not even get back $300 install charge on the fifth booster "new design" they sent me for "free". on the plus side, I did some good for the CE community by forcing A1 to admit their remans were CRAP and to change the design to all steel body. I pray this nightmare never happens to another C4 owner. Peace out , JOHNO

So are they remanufacturing a unit we send in? Can you catch me up? Also, did they send you a steel body and how is it so far?

Wow, sorry about the issues and the cash you lost. But, as you said, maybe some good will come out if for the next C4 owner.

NO more plastic remans from A1. newly built ,new design steel units ONLY. 5th booster works and has about 150 miles on it, that's all I can say about it.

What kind of booster are you talking about, and who is A1? Give us some information so we can know what to look for. Thanks.

I can't believe they were "re-manning" 34 year old plastic.. What could go wrong with an idea like THAT?

Sorry you had to go to so much trouble, and they should have taken better care of you, considering.

I know I'll never forget your story, and the way they behaved, when I'm browsing parts.

I can't speak to the A1 cardone unit. But I put a reman AC Delco unit on 2 years and 4K miles ago and it still works just fine. Time will tell I guess, but the original plastic one lasted 25 years.

Good luck with yours.. But mine didn't fail internally. It formed a giant split right up the back.

It has the metal autozone unit on it now and has been fine for some time.

Don't know where or what you bought. Don't know if GM is different from AC Delco Professional. I do know I paid $150 and as I said it has 2 years and 4K miles on it without an issue.

BRIAN , glad yours works . I had units fail in : 3 miles, 12, 1600 and 3500 miles. NOT a good average. I will say the fifth unit has the best pedal pressure of the bunch . should not be a surprise as 90% of the brake system was replaced even the SS brake hose.

He would not be hearing the word "OBSOLETE" as much. I know I don't hear it as much in the MB world even for older cars than 10 years old.

Does anyone have a good source for a new booster?
