One of the things that had bothered me for a while was the state of my trunk area. The carpet was torn, speaker grilles in rough shape, it just looked sloppy all around. I looked into sourcing "good" parts for it, but honestly my car is a bit more track rat than that, so 300 bucks to restore the cargo area seemed silly. I thought about using rhino liner or something similar, but that added weight, the opposite of what we want. In the end I settled on using some fabric to redo it. I ordered speaker grille cloth, and black trunk carpeting and set out to work. After about $40 worth of fabrics and stainless hardware, I think it looks a lot better than it did before. The carpet was done freehand, and I can trim it closer if I decide to.
Those with keen eyes might notice the floor ridges. This is a thin layer of carpet, and the jute underneath was removed because weight is the enemy. So you can see the design of the floor a little bit through it. Anyways, I think it turned out fine. It's not purist grade, but it suits the car, is functional, and I'm satisfied.
