Purchasing Advice

I bet insurance for a 19 year old in a vette is 500+ a month.
Jarm, buy the best C4 you can find. If you are picking between the Cross Fire and the TPI, I would go for the TPI. If you can up your budget to $5000 you may have an easier time finding a car. If you are going to daily drive it, understand that you will have to work on it and it may leave you setting on the side of the road or in a parking lot, probably more than once. Just enjoy the experience. Get AAA or a friend with access to a trailer. I bought my first C4, a 1985, for $4500 right before I turned 17. It had ripped seats, rotten weather stripping, almost 200,000 miles, and had been sitting under a tree for at least 5 years. It was awesome. I daily drove it for almost 2 years until someone pulled out in front of me on the highway. The next one I got almost a year later was a 1986 4+3 with 70,000 miles. It also had torn seats too. Paid $5500 for it and daily drove it (winter, spring, summer, and fall even in the snow) all the way through collage. I did eventually replace the seats and carpet with ones from mid america. Did it myself, it turned out ok. Learned how to do a lot of other stuff myself too. Fuel injectors, clutch, head gaskets, heater core, etc. My friends and I pretty much still work on cars when we hang out. I've had several of these C4's and have paid between $1800 and $17500 for them. I have had to work on every single one of them. This site is pretty helpful when problems come up. I think it's great that you're into C4's. Out of the C3s, 4's, and 5's I've owned the C4's are my favorite.
Now some pictures. Because this thread needs more pictures.

As said most are priced 4-7k but arent moving.
One real nice black/grey 85 stick for 3k super clean. High mi but appears to be kept upright. Isnt seeing any takers til the virus things over.
If this keeps up much longer we will be seeing some interesting listings.
90k mi C5 that is super sharp started a 9k and is dropping, surprised it hasnt sold.
Under 100k super nice in/out

I think it looks cleaner than quite a lot of c4s I see with rusty motors and beat up interiors that people paid a lot more for. And it runs like a champion for a stock L98.
Opinions vary, I guess.
My neighbor bought a white 1990 ZR-1 garage kept with only 87 miles...that's right...87 miles on it... for two thousand dollars. Then he turned around and sold it to remodel his house.
I dont see anyone paying huge money for a C4 let alone anything else right now with the times we are in.
People are worried about their job, mortgage and basic stuff right now.
