Default New ecm 91

Hey guys I’m going to replace the ecm on my 91 vette From one I bought on ecklers and I just wanna know if I should replace the prom also, if I do change the prom out do I need it reprogrammed? Or is there one I can buy and just drop in new computer

Keep the Programmable Read Only Memory chip from the old unit and install in the remanufactured (new) one. The new unit will not have a prom in it. No need to reprogram the PROM.

thank you , also do I need to enter a diagnostic mode after I install the new ecm or can I just reconnect the battery after install and the car will fire up ?

plug and play, start it up and go! The PROM has all the info the car needs to run. The ECM just reads the PROM. Make sure the battery cables are disconnected before doing this!

I did this on my 1991 and had no problems. Just be careful not to break any of the plastic tabs holding the connectors onto the ECM.
