Re: Hood insulation (Hamert)
I see that Eckler's has a hood insulation kit for C4's. Is there any real benefit to adding this? Noise reduction?
Hmmm...I cant imagine a need for that. Usually we tend to make our vettes LOUDER and insulation would make the engine bay hotter which is not a good thing.... :blueangel:
I bought an insulation blanket for my 1996 Collector Edition. It was easy to install provided you are willing to drill the spots for the snap in holders. I put my on because I want to protect the Sebring Silver paint from the additional heat of the engine. I do not find that heat builds up any more than without the blanket. It does quiet the ride some, although I never thought the engine was that noisy.
I have had my on for about six or eight months and have no regrets about having it.
There are stainless steel parts to install under the hood to make it look really cool.....most for later vette's like your's...
