Hi everyone 😊 i hope you can help me my friends. My father just gave me his old C4 corvette because I always want to own one, i can't tell you how happy I am now.But there's one problem the car star fin and the idle is also fine, but as soon i hit the gas ... the car start chokeing and shutdown. I called almost all workhops in the area but they told me no one now works on old corvette Specially the C4 it's so complicated ....even some of the workshops called it an old relic 😥. so I decided to fix it myself.I just need some one to guide me .....i just want to know where to start.
P.s i already installed a new battery & a new spark plugs but its still the same. Thanks my friend 🌹
Next thing you need to get if you are taking this on yourself is a FSM (factory service manual), should cost $60-$75. You can also get it in a PDF of the fsm and print out the pages you need for a particular project (I have both and like the printed pages....the manual is like a phone book)
Welcome aboard!

While the C4 might be a relic.. the LT-1 was put into many other model vehicles... sounds like the shops youre calling dont want to fool with the car because they dont have the diagnostic tools to do so. The engine itself is not complicated at all... Get a FSM, a OBD code reader, a decent set of hand tools, and a multi meter and youll probably be able to fix most issues. Plus with the research you do and the help you get here, you will be up and running in no time. If I had to just take a wild guess, Id guess fuel related or the Optispark unit might be giving you a code...

Thanks for the tip my friend 😊 👍
I'll go first with the fuel pump and see what will happen
you can attach a gauge to the fuel pressure gauge. They have a along hose so you can tape the gauge to your windshield and watch the pressure while you drive.
Some auto parts stores will rent or loan you one.
What was the original color? Admiral blue or white
it was originally blue with white line on the hood just like the grand sport corvette, but my father repaint it years ago.
i think he once said he was inspired by the corvette from the 80s American tv show ( A-Team) 😊 but he wants to keep the original colour... the blue and white, so we got this 😊
Now comes the fun part.
I assume you have all of the maintenance records your Dad has saved over the years.
You may want to inventory the records to see what has been replaced in the past.
I agree with Vette196, Don’t throw parts at the problem.
Ask your dad which shops he used and also if he is active in any corvette clubs near your hometown.
You should contact some of your local clubs and get some advice on local shops that specialize in Corvettes.
When I first got my 95-C4, I spent hours on the web locating Corvette clubs near me, along with collecting data on reliable Corvette shops.
I will perform most of the basic "fun" maintenance myself and leave the hard stuff for the experts.
I recently called two Corvette shops to get a price quote for a full brake job, fuel filter, bushings and shocks.
The highly recommended Chevrolet dealership gave me a price of $2,800.
The highly recommended local Corvette shop did all of the work for $1,900.
Regarding your "choking and shutdown" issue, it could be a fuel issue. The pressure gauge will help you diagnose the issue. If you do need to replace the fuel pump, make sure you have a new replacement Fuel Filter ready to be installed at the same time.
Good morning everyone 🌞
i just want to thank you all for helping me.
i fixed it ....fixed my c4 by myself with your guidance 😀
it was the fuel pump, it was barely working.
Me and my dad worked on it all the night, i never thought it was so easy to replace the fuel pump, we couldn't find any c4 fuel pump in spare parts shops, we only found one but its belongs to camaro 1995, so my dad took it ( i think he knows what he is doing) ... with few tweak .... its fit perfectly.
who needs a workshops when u can do it myself 😊
The c4 now runs like the wind 😊 The beast has awoken
Once again.. thankyou my friends for your help,I really appreciate it

Glad you got it running, however, I would really try to source the proper parts for the car. Try to buy from one of the larger Corvette suppliers like Ecklers, Corvette Central or the like. Should be readily available...
