Default Code 22, 89 Conv

Receivedthe code 22 and replaced the TPS on my 89. Set the voltage at .54 and ran fine for a couple of weeks. Him getting cold 22 again, then attempted to reset the voltage and got no voltage at all. I looked in the shop manual and told me to jump all 3 connections on the TPS. When I did, I got a negative voltage reading. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you forum!

If you are getting a negative reading just swap the multimeter leads.

Default No reading

Thanks for the reply. I did that and got no reading at all.
I'll try another TPS.

This is a '87 schematic and I'm purdy sure nothing has changed in '89. To me it sounds like a wiring issue. Check for volts and continuity of the wires to the ecm.

Test the two outer wires and you should see +5Vdc, if a negative value reverse DMM leads.
Then, keeping the DMM ground lead on the ground side of the TPS, measure the center electrode voltage.

Also, pull the TPS connector and inspect/clean the connector pins for solidarity. They should be clean and not move in/out when pressed lightly.

Default Code 22

Now I'm setting the TPS and I can't get a reading above .31 V
This is beginning to drive me nuts. I did replace my idle air control valve about a month ago.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you guys out on the forum!

Did you set minimum air idle when you change the IAC?
