Hey Bud, The wire color is different but the connector looks very much the same. Yup, jumpered the harness end. Someone has been in there before me so, I suspect this is an ongoing problem. On my switch both wires are fairly large gauge and solid black. I wondered why the wires from the switch are so much larger gauge than the, corresponding, harness wires are. Oh well, ever onward .... or something like that.
And you are sure battery is fine? Mine died on me out of nowhere, car wouldn't start even with battery booster.
try cleaning the key as was previously mentioned.
Something must have happened between then and now. And no rodents messing with wiring? Check visually.
Saftie, more on battery later. Checked all of the fuses that seemed to have anything to do with cranking, starting or control modules. They all checked good. Did some digging and found TBS #01053 from Feb 1995. All I could find was a summary, which, stated "INTERMITTENT OPEN GROUND ON VATS CIRCUIT OF THE CCM CAUSING VEHICLES TO EXPERIENCE A NO CRANK CONDITION." Now that was a long time ago so I would suspect if this car had the problem the CCM would have already been replaced but, dose anyone think it could still be an issue?
On the battery. As stated in my first post the batt was dead when I first ran into the problem. I charged it and it was holding 12.8 volts. I do not, at this time, have a way to load test the batt. As you know it has been a week or so since I have been able to work on the car and guess what ....the batt was dead again. I hope it is just a bad batt and not some short hiding in the electrical system. I'll pull the batt and have it checked first chance I get.
