I just got done putting my new motor in yesterday, and when I went to put on the positive power cable to the battery it was arching really bad. I finally got it on but then when I went to jump it with my battery box the cable started glowing. Does anyone know what this could be caused by, I would appreciate any insight you guys could provide for me, I am anxious to get my baby running again!!!
Sorry for the obvious question, but are you sure the pos cable went on the pos terminal? "Someone I know" <me, red faced> reversed polarities on a Taurus once, talk about a sparks flyin' and computers fryin'! Just a thought.
Yes!!! I figured it out, when I ran the power cable back it had a split in the casing and was rubbing on the frame. Problem fixed. Look on the discussion page for my next problem. Thanks guys for all the help, ya'll are awesome!!! :yesnod:

You were lucky. A battery with a dead short can literally explode, I’ve seen it happen. That’s sulfuric acid in the battery. Just hooking up two batteries backward for a hot shot, can cause it to explode. :( :(
