I have heard so many good things about Zaino products that I can't believe anyone doesn't like them. Even b4 I got the Vette I heard about Zaino and thought about getting it for my Tahoe which is black and a complete pain in the butt to keep up. Is it hard to apply? Or take off for that matter? I know a lot of people on this forum use it and their cars look incredible! Is it too good to be true? Does it take days to get your car to look that good or is it a simple to do process? I have the order sheet in hand and am ready to make that purchase. I also would like to know about the glass cleaner. Anyone using it? My rear window has a substantial amount of acid rain deposits and they say it will take care of that. Any truth to it?
Thanks in advance and keep those Chevy's rolling... :chevy
Also, how long b4 a repaint do you have to wait b4 applying?
Zaino can be removed with Dawn as well, it just takes a few washes.
I use the glass cleaner polish on my 85 and I did it by hand. Considering the vehicle is 18yrs old the glass when cleaned looks new.
A friend of mine knew my car before I got it, and is amazed at what Zaino did for it. In fact we polish his 2002 745i BMW (i think this is the model) religiously in the summer.
Check out the forum section on polish & waxes and all your questions will be answered.
When I first got the GS last year, it had been treated to very little protective finish. I broke down and bought the entire Zaino package on recommendation from members of the GS Registry. The initial process is very time consuming, unless you use the accellerator additive. (Which really speeds up the process) Otherwise, you are relegated to 1 coat per 24 hours. The first coat or two, you kind of wonder what all the noise about Zaino is, it doesn't look THAT good. After about the third or fourth it REALLY hits you and you realize that the car has a glow that you didn't notice before. Apparently there is a cumulative effect, that just seems to get better and better. Be sure to follow the directions explicitly, it works if you do. And it seems, the more coats, the better. The one other thing I found after the first times is that I was putting on WAY too much. Be sparing, almost to the point of thinking that you can't possibly be doing any good with this small of an ammount of product. It worked for me and someone will have to show me a better result on their car before I will change. By the way, the more coats on the car, the easier it gets to apply successive coats. //Dave
I really don't care for it, and I am aware that I am in the extreme minority.
Both my brother (C5 owner) and I have had problems with it smudging well after the application. 3,4,5 car washes later and you still notice it when you're drying your car. I've applied many coats, all according the the directions and waiting the prescribed times.
I do really like their tire and leather products though. The tire stuff doesn't go on greasy or collect "road stuff" like some of the other products.
I’ve been spoiled by the Meguiar’s products and haven’t used anything else in years, plus all my customers seem 2 like it also. So if that’s what they pay me 2 use then that’s what I better use :D
Zaino sounds like to much a pain to use, I am very happy with Meguiar’s products. I have no problem putting my car up against a Zaino's car. So why do all that extra work and spend so much more money. You will never get me to join that Zaino cult. :D
I love it when I am at a car show and people ask me how many coats of Zaino I have on the Vette, I just :D and say ZERO!
I think it goes on great, comes off great. Durability is better than wax for sure.
But, wax makes the paint look healthier I think - and darkens the paint a bit, and makes my admiral blue look a bit more pearl-like. It hides light surface towel marks and whatnot also.
I like it, I used Meguires the first couple waxings and was happy with the results, but after switching to Zaino and getting to the 3rd or 4th coat I realized that the shine was much deeper than the Meguires stuff I was using. It also think it lasts longer, and collects less dust than the other waxes. But thats just MHO. :) :seeya
i used the high dollar zymol wax for years. i thought it could not be beat. that is until i used the zaino. the carnuba wax makes your car look a different color because carnuba is yellow. zaino is 99% transparent. the bigest difference is the installation. it takes 1/5 the time to apply zaino and it lasts longer and looks better and its cheaper.
the real zymol is about 50% carnuba. the wax you buy off the store shelf including the liquid zymol that you buy at the store is about 5% carnuba. that stuff is easy because there in not much carnuba in it. the real carnuba is greasy and real hard to get smooth. seems like the more you rub it the greasier it gets. the last time i put it on the vette it took 9 hours.
Part of the problem is that you use WAX. You should only use polish on your finish. Then you will get the same shin you get with using Zaino with half the cost and effert.
Acid rain deposits and such should be taken out with a glass polish.
The Zaino process, if you don't use the ZFX, does take a few days. I opted to NOT buy the ZFX on the count that the Zaino would be done, regardless of whether I used it or not, and it didn't help the shine. Took me about a week, but I skipped a few days here and there being lazy.
I used ONLY Meguiars(I still do if the finish needs de-oxidizing) for a long time. I tried Zaino in April of 2000,and it's the only thing that's touched my car(both on the old red paint and new blue). It's really top shelf stuff! Very good protection, long lasting and now easy as hell to use with ZFX. My car hasn't been washed in over two months, and is close in shine to my sig pic. :yesnod:
I have never tried Zaino because I simply love IBIZ. Anybody heard of it? Easy on and easy off. I don't care how long it last because I put it on just for something to do. I love the shine and others have commented on much it does shine. To each his own, I guess.
I never tried it. I have my own system. Not just Meguairs but other brands of polishes and detailing wax. I rarely detail my car though. I have seen Zaino cars. No big deal. I'll save my money, use Meguiars, and get exercise at the same time (since i'm supposedly going to be waxing more often).
