..... Sorry for the long rant ! ... Ever since I installed the Ford 9" solid axle in January , I've been kinda "Flogging" the car ... every race , every TnT event ... I guess its getting tired of that s**t ... April has been a month full of surprises . On the 1st at a TnT on the 2nd pass the car did not want to spin the tires in the water box and ran like crap so bad that I cruised from about 100' back to the pits ... hooked up the laptop and discovered that one of my oxygen sensors took a dump (I have a Holley ECM that allows me to run learn as I choose ... had it on averaging between the two) ... so that was an easy key-stroke fix , I just switched operation to the good O2S ..... installed a new pair of sensors on Friday nite before a race in Orlando on the 3rd ..... First round of eliminations , I'm in the water box and notice that my digital volt meter is flashing (it does this when volts go below 12) ... despite the distraction , I win the round and decide to change alternators in the pits ... I recently swapped out the CS130 for a CS144 and put the original alternator in the truck "just in case" ... got it done in time for round 2 just to have the car fly down the track and run a tenth quicker than expected even with my foot off the gas for the last 100' (lifetime best ET for this combo) ... I broke out ! ... the faulty 'nator must have been wonking things up ? ..... I'm at the SFG 100K race on Tuesday/Wednesday 13th & 14th ... Tuesday went well , won 1st round ... there were so many cars that Tuesday was 1 time run , 1st round , and buy-back round 9am til 5:30pm ... 2nd round was 10am Wednesday ... I was running no box and we were 1st up on a nicely prepped track ... I get staged and at the hit the dash top comes off and karate chops me in the Adams apple ... needless to say , I had to lift !!! ..... Then on the 24th , loading the car in the trailer for a 3hour drive to Gainesville for a bracket race I discover that I can't open the hood ... no time to mess with it so I grab some stiff wire and head out ... on the way , I'm wondering what I'll do if tech wants me to open the hood before I can get it fixed ... Gainesville is one of the few tracks around me that techs cars for regular bracket races ... I was gonna race ... I don't need the hood up except to cool the engine down ... well , my wire emergency release tool worked BEFORE tech and they didn't check anything but to make sure that the card was signed ..... the vette got this weekend off ... I hope it appreciates the rest and stops f-ing with me .....
