They (Autozone) collected my money they several days later sent an email explaining that they cancelled the order bc they dont have it in stock. So I am back at square one. I wonder what other 90s gm engines may have used the same sensor.

I bought one from rock auto it was a standard motor parts brand, however, when I put it in my gauge would start from the bottom mark then jump to nearly 300°, then slowly creep up as the engine warmed up to the 325. Meanwhile, the digital part was reading correctly so I bought one from Corvette Central and I’ll be damned if it also wasn’t us standard motor parts brand for $30 more and has done the same thing. So then it got me wondering if there was something wrong with the circuit, feeding the analog gauge, the service manual tells you what the 325 mark it should have 26 ohms I bought a 2K ohm variable resistor and wired it in at the sensor plug by the engine and ran the rheostat up and down, and the gauge moves smoothly and at 325 it was 24 ohms. So there’s nothing wrong with the actual circuit. The trick I guess is to find someone who manufactures the correct sensor. I’m not sure if I wanna keep trying to buy a new one since there an electronic item there’s no returning them, I’m already at $150 wasted. I may just go buy a used one.

I ended up getting a used one too. But it was from a 88 and the analog works but the digital doesn't lol

I was able to find one on Facebook marketplace from a 96 model. I put it in yesterday and it works like a champ.

I believe I got mine from NAPA or Advance Auto. I forget. I didn’t install it yet so I’ll look at the box later and report back. It was readily available about 6 months ago from both stores. It is NOT an AC Delco part but seems like good quality.

Try this link for NAPA. I believe that it’s the one I purchased. Not in stock at my local store but it’s available for ship to home. Should be the correct 3 wire.

I had the same problem on my 90, I ended up sourcing a good used OEM one.

I need an oil temp sensor for a 1990, part number 10096136. I found this link showing 10096181 will work and is available and still being made. Has anyone tried it? I am afraid it will not help the oil change due light being on. TIA

That looks like it is for the LT5. The part shown looks too short for L98 or LT1/4.

This engine did not have the bushing mentioned on Jerry's website. I was able to get a NOS 10096136 on ebay. Except for the thread size it looked like it would work.
