I think I know what the outcome of this will be, but maybe not...
I'm sitting here, seeing all these GS's and CE's up for sale lately, and it's got me REALLY thinking... Which would YOU rather have:

Any Vette will do. Hey all those Vette's posted above are great ! But as you can see by my sig. slightly modded ZR1 is my own prefered choice.
Happy Hunting Tim !!
I love the ZR1s but I love the Grand Sports much more :yesnod: . Besides I feel like the ZR1 parts are harder and harder to find and will come to a point where you can't find them. Also with the ZR1 if you ever have engine problems its gonna be hard finding a qualified mechanic to work on them.
They way I see it. They will all cost about the same $, (maybe the GS a little more), but resale wise the cars with the minor mods will bring a lot more money resale wise than your 87 will.
What a decision, kind of like asking, " Do I want Prime Rib or Filet Mignon for dinner?" Good Gosh amighty, would be hard for me, but the GS would win by a nose ......
I made the decision about 4 mos ago and went with the CE LT4 and am happy. It's my daily driver and wantd somewhat lower mi ang pristine cond and most ZR's in the price range weren't. Like the GS but not for a daily driver, it's just a little to loud (color wise) for me and more $ as well. :seeya
Besides I feel like the ZR1 parts are harder and harder to find and will come to a point where you can't find them.
Imho that is just a temporary situation. But first of all, almost all parts are very easy to find. Anything I've needed so far was easily obtainable. But in 6 (short) years the first ZR1s will be NCRS judging eligible. And that means that the aftermarket will start making available again any factory correct part we want. I'm not at all worried about parts availability in the future.
Also with the ZR1 if you ever have engine problems its gonna be hard finding a qualified mechanic to work on them.
If you ever have engine problems you'd be one of the very rare exceptions, too. The LT5 is so well engineered that engine problems are rare and not really a concern to me. The things that are more likely to go wrong that are engine related are things that are likely to go wrong with any Corvette motor - alternator, water pump, alternator, etc. The under the plenum stuff is a bit different than any othe Corvette motor. The starter is under there as well as about 57 miles of vaccum tubing. But it's not over the head of a decent DIY person if you take your time. Again, I'm not at all worried about this kind of stuff. Any of those things I can do myself. And things I can't do myself I have no problem letting my local mechanic handle for me.
Now, having said all that it should be very clear what my choice would be: ZR1. :D
The LT4 motor is a sweet one for sure, but the GS are far too flashy and ostentatious for my liking. I did seriously consider a CE but the price premium that they command for just a few cosmetic differences wasn't justifyable to me. I actually got my ZR1 for less than a CE I was also looking at.
Scoob I hope you are right because the ZR1 is one awesome car. In fact I have a VCR video of someone showing everything about the ZR! engine. Its been a year since I have watched it but it shows in detail everything about the ZR1 engine. Those engines are damn near bullet proof or should I say bomb proof. My reasoning about which one of the cars for me is that I live in a small town and I try to be a good DIY owner but I am afraid my bravery doesn't include all those vacumn lines and other DIY replaceable parts. In the area I live in I am afraid I couldn't find anyone that is qualified to work on them except for the local Cheverolet Dealer, :U The last time I called them and asked what they would charge for replacing my water pump on my LT4 they gave me an estimate of  $680.00...Just to put in a new Damp water pump.. As you can see the Dealer here in Alexandria, La will gouge you to death on a simple engine like the LT4 what in the hell would they charge me for an exotic like the ZR1? That thought is scarey...but if I lived in an area with lots of dealers and qualified mechanics available I would opt for a ZR1 but now I can't  Its wasn't because the ZR1 was not as good as the Grand Sport...its what I could afford to get fixed if it broke
I agree with Scoob all the way, if your any kind of motor head at all the ZR-1 is not that difficult. Remember there is tremendous support out there for the ZR-1 such as the ZR-1 net, LT-5 Registry, and various forums for parts and tech information. I love all Corvettes but the ZR-1 is addicting, one drive and you will know what were talking about. 84 CF 91 ZR-1 :steering:
