Hey guys,
What kind of performance increase should I expect to see after I install the street runner chip on my 89? Horsepower, Torque, Acceleration ect.
5 hp tops. Save your money for other mods. If you're looking for mods to start with do the free/cheap mods. 1-cut open air lid 2-K&N air filter 3-TB bypass 4-cutback spark plugs 5-160 thermostat with fan switch to turn them on earlier. Chips are best for helping tune major mods.
GM does a good job of tuning the ecm. If you have an essentially stock engine, a 'one size fits all' aftermarket chip will not offer any breath taking improvements. If you get someone to work with you and tune a chip for your specific engine combination, then you could see some serious gains.

None, its not worth a damn. Its only a paperweight on a stock engine, all they do is advance timing, which you can really do yourself.
Do all the free mods (run a search on the Tech forums, and theres currently a couple threads on 'easy' mods you can do), and they will get you more power than that hypercrap chip.
Otherwise, save your money for REAL mods like intake manifold, cam, exhaust, etc.

Re: hypertech chip (Vettski)
I have nothing to base this on but seat of the pants feel, but I swear it delayed torque convertor lock-up on my 86. But 190 bucks could be put to much better use elsewhere in the car
