Is that the main difference between 1989 plenum vs earlier 85-88 plenum?

What does the IAT sensor relocation achieve?

all tpi have iat there.

as for advantages, i believe its to do with ensuring the ecm sees the coolest air temps possible and therefore keeps timing and fuel in the right spot rather than letting a high plenum temp drag down the in the multi-variable formula due to the high temps right on top of the manifold. thats an improper description but overall the reason it gets moved.

on the c5, and i *think* lt-1 it was moved to the snorkel.

Do 1985-1988 Plenums bolt right up to 1989? I thought there were some differences in terms of sensor bungs?

I would like to buy a 1985-1988 plenum and port it and install in on my 1989.

Not sure..the 89 uses no cold start injector. Some say you can program it out
Sure some guys will pop in with the particulars so you dont buy one then find out some goofy detail keeps you from using it.

IAT relocation sensor may just do what its advertised to do...you just shouldnt expect to feel a performance increase
My first C4 I ordered about every little cheap bolt on gimmick just to see what they did. lol
