Hi, all..and merry christmas.... My lumbar pump needed a new rubber diaphram. so I tried the "Bicycle inner tube" method.. I think it may have worked.. because when I put one of the hoses in water and ran the pump it bubbled.(means air is getting thru the hose). But when I blew air threw the same hose straight to the bladder with my mouth it didn't build pressure.(Could this mean the bladder or connections bad ?). I also threw the seat back in and actually sat in it ,ran the pump and nothing.. Didn't build any pressure.. The first two things listed here was done "after" the release valves....And yes I can definitely hear the pump.. Need your expertise on how to fix please....
Thanks,
Nate
Merry CHRISTmas! I was told to use a rubber glove like you use to wash dishes. Bike tube might be too much resistance. Haven't tried it, just heard it.
I have seen a post here about using BP cuffs for bladders. Maybe someone with this style of repair can give details on it's durability. Maybe a more modern (available) car has a similar bladder.
I fixed mine in my 95 many years ago, it was not a bladder issue, and have never seen anyone else post the same issue/fix.
I took the motor apart, cleaned the diaphragm, and reassembled. It didn't appear dirty, and I thought the whole assembly seemed odd, and that it would not work, but it worked after reinstalling.
i fixed my (93) pumps with the tube fix and it worked fine. However, I had the same issue with no inflation. I removed the seat back and found the bags had turned to dust essentially. I replaced the bags with the blood pressure cuffs and they worked very well. Another issue I had was the one-way rubber valve in the pump was not working (little red rubber nipples at the outlet side of the pump) and thus no air pressure could build. I replaced the bad valve with a one-way valve I purchased off of Amazon. I will see if I can find post w/pictures and will come back with link.
