Default How do I replace this vacuum line??

My 93 has a few severely decomposed lines. How do I replace this 7/32" line coming off this valve? It is encased by a gasket that doesn't look like I can remove it.

Hose comes off this vacuum near the battery

Here is the line connecting to the vacuum

Here's where it looks securely. attached

Another picture.

Detroit, you may not have to replace the whole line. On my 91, the tips were cracked but the line was good so I just snipped off 1/2 inch of the cracks until i got to the good line. A little bit of lube on the fitting and inside the hose helped it to slide on and provide a good seal,

Thanks for the comments. This is to the cruise control sys. This is a grommet that can be removed but from the other side. I have to look on the firewall and see if I can. access the line / grommet.

The entire line is degrading beyond use. Touching it anywhere leaves black reside on your hands. I'm going through the entire car, repairing, replacing, cleaning. Any lines in bad condition need replaced.

You could try connecting your new line to (an undegraded portion of) the old vacuum line inside the cabin using a barbed union and electrical tape, then pull it through the firewall grommet from the engine side. Once you get it in place, some high temp RTV will seal the firewall penetration.

Default Vacuum hose

I just replaced the same line on my 94.The hose goes through a grommet in the firewall and goes up behind the speedo. The hose under the dash was in good condition so I cut the hose and spliced the new hose to the original rather than see where the hose went up in the dash. I removed the rear inner fender panel to give me access under the brake booster to the firewall and the hose grommet

Neo, How did route the new hose through the grommet? Did you come in from the interior side? Or pull out the hose once cut from the inside? I hope I can fit under that dash to work it.

Did you pull the grommet out (I don't think so)? I understand splicing in a new section from under the dash toward the engine.

I do have the area opened up. A rat (bastrard) chewed up the wires on a plug there. I'm gonna have to fix that next (ugh).

access to the line here

The original hose will pull out of the grommet. You may have to pull hard to get the old hose to come out.The new hose will slide thru the grommet with some dish soap on the hose
