Help! I am looking for a stereo or at least a fix to the factory stereo...the thing works but the speakers are screwy and it hums when it thinks it is playing a CD...any ideas on how much it will cost for a new one or to get the stuff I have fixed? Gotta love "BLOSE" stereos :)
thanks  :D
The amps in the speakers are blown I think ...3 out of the 4 don't work...and the radio buzzes and clickes...basically it is just time for a new one but I don't know where to start. I don't want an after market radio , I would like to stick with the bose that it came with ....but where can I find one to put in? And new speakers...let's not forget...
thanks
E-BAY!!!!! you will find more car audio there than you could shake a stick at.there are two different sections, one is in the car and parts section, which you might be able to find all the bose stuff. the other is its own category of car audio and electronics, you will find thousands of after market audio there. if you know what your looking for you can get some super deals. be careful, e-bay can become addicting. please don't blame me if you get as addicted as me. :D
I don't know your budget... but lets look at this perspective...
you can repair the amps yourself. they usually just blow up a capacitor. no biggie. I just don't remember the details. check the tech tips. there might be something there.
I am queer about dealing with ebay on this... you never know if is REALLY works.
there are a number of shops that can repair the radios... I don't remember the links off hand. but it will be 250 or so.
Now... the reality. Bose sucks. The sound quality is horrid.
For the same $$ you would spend in reconditioning the junk bose, you can install a nice aftermarket unit, that will sound 10x's better!!!!
Screw the bose. Get a real system. Go to the audio section for help. I'd get a Pioneer deck and new speakers. Bose is expensive, poor sounding, fragile, and incompatable with anything. Post your budget and what you want out of the system in audio.
