I've searched and read and searched and read and lathered, rinsed and repeated. I can't find a program anywhere that runs on anything other than Windows. I wouldn't mind using Windows, but I don't have a Windows laptop and I'd rather not buy one if I can avoid it. We have one that runs Chrome, so hopefully there's something available it could run. Thanks

Edit: it's a 94 6 speed. I need to data log right now to repair an intermittent no spark no fuel situation.
I'm not sure which programs to use. I was thinking of scan9495 and EEhack. They seem to be the easiest to use. I hear tunercat can have a fairly steep learning curve. Plus, free is always nice. 👍

I wouldn't go holding my breath. Back in time when the tuning programs for these cars (when they were newer and more relevant to the bit hackers to take apart the datastream and map it) things such as Chrome didn't exist.
SO.......as much as you don't want to, you are going to have to break down and purchase a Windows machine or find someone that can handle the tuning for you and do what needs to be done to have them do it.
Thanks, drcook. I was afraid of that, and for that very reason. I was hoping I was wrong, and it seemed wise to ask those with knowledge before I wasted the money on an unnecessary laptop.
Time to do some research to find out how antiquated I need to get.

Which software program(s) are you looking into purchasing/downloading. If you state what you are wanting to acquire, the folks here that have experience can jump in.
I have a '96 which uses the Jet DST software, which is kind of a unicorn in and of itself, as the '96's are a 1 year only in the Corvette. I use a dedicated Windows XP laptop for talking to the car. The other software components are run in XP compatibility mode.

There is ALDLdroid but not sure it will work with your Year C4, I use it on my 90 for data logging but the tunning part does not work with my files.
What operating system are you using? I ran Holley EFI with Wine on a Linux laptop for a while. It worked ok. I ended up buying a $150 Windows laptop at Walmart that I just use for tuning. Like eutu1984 said ALDLdroid and also LSDroid/PCMHammer work in Android. There free but not exactly user friendly and work with newer PCM's.
EDIT:
Sorry I re-read your first post. I missed the part were you said Chrome. Being that Chrome in a Linux kernel you might be able to run Wine and thus most tuning software but I never tried. At the end of the day it might work. But it would be a pain and might have errors at a very bad time causing corrupt files. I would just pick up a super cheap laptop. Or do like I did the first time I ever played with HPTuners. I took the wife's tower PC when she wasn't home and ran it off of a power inverter in the car and tuned it that way.

Sorry, I didn't include necessary information in the first post. I've done an edit to fix that. 94 6 speed. Thinking of using $EEhack and scan9495.
I'm also looking for the files that aldldroid needs. If I can find them, it could be worth a try. Hopefully the ccm doesn't cause issues.
I use Tunerpro on a Dell Laptop running an i5 processor that originally came with Windows 7. I upgraded it to Windows 10 and it runs Tunerpro with no problems for datalogging. I'm not sure if the programs to burn a chip will run on windows 10.

Thanks, topfuel67. At least now I know I could do some datalogging. I'm also thinking of using ALDLDroid for datalogging, but I can't find the 2 files I need to make it work that are specific to my car.
On the other hand, there may be a ray of light in the situation. While cleaning my garage today, I found an old Dell Inspiron 6000 in a box with no charging cord. I think the garage is just mocking me with it, though. I don't remember the password to it, and don't know of any way to get it unlocked.
The Dell I found was a 5450 (I think those were the numbers) that was a work laptop from a previous employer. The battery was dead, no charger and locked to the work network. I bought a new hard drive off ebay for around $50. I bought a new battery off Amazon for around $20. I also bought a Windows 10 upgrade disc for around $10 that only works if you have a licensed Windows 7. I swapped the hard drive and luckily the windows 10 disc was able to recognize the previous license. Now it is unlocked and I don't have to worry about any admins.

That's really helpful. I didn't realize that it might still be able to recognize the license from the previous OS. Definitely worth a try. If it doesn't work, maybe I could get a full install disc. Not sure how much they are, but this is work a try.
How did you get the upgrade disc?

Wondering how I'm going to get a disc, since none of our laptops have a CD drive.
Thanks, drcook.
That was too simple. I should go to bed. I can't believe I didn't think of it. Best buy is just a couple of miles away. They'll probably have the hard drive I need as well.
Time to look for the battery and charging cord, then compare the cost to a new laptop.
I have a feeling that even the cheapest new laptop will destroy this old Dell. Since I'll just be using it for the car, it can be kind of slow as long as the prices aren't too close.
I did a quick search on ebay and for $10 you can get the same upgrade on a usb thumb drive. At one point these upgrades were free on microsoft's website. They may still be and people are selling them on a disc for convenience.
I have bought some of those budget laptops for my kids. They are junk. They don't last a year. The older Dell's that are used by corporations for the employees are far better. I used mine for 5+ years every day for 8+ hours. New battery and hard drive and it runs great.
You can get a Windows 10-11 laptop for 200-250 bucks on sale. A dedicated laptop is the way to go for JETS DST. My 96 is currently tuned with JET and it's compatible with Windows 11. Don't believe anything you read about JET, it's all bs and from 10 plus years ago. If you follow JETS detailed instructions, make sure your connection is solid and tight during the flash you will not brick the ECM. No virus protection on, don't use a laptop loaded with **** and viruses etc...we all spend allot of money on parts for our cars so go buy a dedicated laptop. Once you start tuning, it's endless. You'll always be messing around and trying different settings etc so you might as well do it right...
Thanks KrK96Vette. One of my kids found a Windows 10 laptop. I've loaded 9495scan. I'll hook it up soon and do some logging with it. Hopefully that will pinpoint the issue.
