I really couldn't have imagined a Corvette as a first car. Congratulations! The interior looks really nice. I had to pull my ZF trans because 4th gear blew out. All in all, removing the trans wasn't too difficult, although handling it will teach you the meaning of the term Dead Weight. I'd recommend at least changing the slave cylinder, fluid, pilot bearing, and rear main oil seal while you're in there. Enjoy your new ride!
OP has been silent for 2 months. Either it's fixed and he's driving the wheels off it, or he found more problems than he expected to deal with. Hey Jacob, how are things going with the ride?
Interesting thread. My 17 y.o. son just saved up and bought a 94 base coupe 6 spd with 68K. It's his second car he's owned but first manual. I owned a 92 back in the day so this certainly brings back memories (both good and bad). I've been second guessing myself letting him get a vette. He's responsible but he's still 17. He's going to attempt to daily the car and I promised to help him here and there with as I've had a few C4's. He wanted to learn manual but there was no way I was going to teach him in my C7 Z06! His first painful le$$on was the car didn't pass inspection. 15 year old tires and bushings...
Hope the OP updates this thread as I'd like to know how he's doing with it. These cars are 30 + years old now. Simple by today's standards but dodgey electronics even when they were only a few years old. The previous owner of his replaced the opti which was a selling point for me.

Having removed and re installed trans many times on my C4s I ended up building an attachment bracket to one of my floor jacks. The car does have to be up higher to accommodate the floor jack. However... that 135 lbs of ZF trans is a heavy little item. One time we did a trans install in a pit in my buddies garage. All three of us struggled to get things lined up while the first 2 bolts on top at the bell housing were secured. I can do the whole trans swap by myself now... also made a bracket for the rear end... its a pretty sight... lifting or removing either item on wheels is a fond memory because the struggle is gone.

Both of these happened, I had it fixed and running good for a little bit but around the end of May one of the coolant lines broke on my way home and blew the head gasket. I just saved up enough money to get the engine rebuilt as a 383 stroker and should be on the road again before halloween

Dang, dude, epic stuff for a first car!! Go big or go home, right?!? Congrats, and thanks for keeping your thread updated; all us old-as-dirt f*cks are living vicariously through you.
Got the engine back yesterday, put the clutch, intake, exhaust, valve covers, and opti-spark on it, but we found out the shop destroyed the bolts to the coolant crossover lines, and didn’t give us back our motor mounts or starter bracket
Looks awesome man!
How does it pull?
Get it dyno'd
Dyno sessions can be as cheap as $100 in my neck of the woods
So far I’ve only been able to drive it 10ft out of the garage, still waiting on some sensors to come in the mail. I’m planning on taking it to a local dyno once I get everything buttoned up
So it’s been at the tuner for 2 days now and we found out not only was it running rich from the new cam, but the o2 sensors were pegging out lean so it was dumping even more fuel. That’s all they told me and said they’d keep me updated with issues or call me when it’s done, I also asked if they could record some pulls to post on here since I can’t just drive over to New Orleans whenever to see it.
