Here we go again. My 94 has a OBD plug that looks like a OBD 2 but I know that it is a OBD 1. I've been told that the 94 and 95 Vettes came with the OBD 2 plug because the Government stated that they had to be OBD 2 by 96 so GM added the plug to 94 and 95 just in case。 Well I hook up my SnapOn scanner and it says that it isn't connected。 Now I've also been told that some of them you have to have a 12 V wire running from the liter to the plug to make it work. My problem is my connector doesn't have any port for a 12 V male connector to plug into it. I need some help or suggestions please!!!

Are you using a MT 2500 scanner? Mine uses a power cord that you hook to the battery of your car and that does provide power to run the scanner. If you are using this scanner do you have the proper cartridge to work with GM products? Mine works fine on my 92. There is an internal battery that will power up the screen but it takes the power cord to run any diagnostics.

Ok, I'm not familiar with that model so I won't be much help there. Does it say that it's designed to work on OBD1?

Is there a chance it requires a different plug for OBD1? My MT 2500 uses an adapter to us it with OBD2 as it was originally designed to work on OBD1 and was updated to work with the later system. I'm just spitballing here but if the pinout on your ALDL connector is different than an OBD2 even though they are the same shape it might be what's going on.

OBD2 format was only used on 96 model years. 95 is OBD1 but has the repinned OBD2 style connector under the dash.

Not sure about your scanner, but more info on pin out for the ODB1 16 pin connector is here http://obd1.com/
