Difference between "sending" and "sensor", question about sensor?
Hi guys, I have a 1987 corvette and there is a wire that is green by my starter, I believe it is for a part calling a "temperature sending unit" does this turn on the fan or signals it to, also I bought this thing with a wiring kit from autozone I am not sure if it is the right sensor: https://www.carparts.com/details/Che...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Completely new, this is my first car ever owned and I don't have a lot of experience with sensors this question may sound dumb to some of you but I am just trying to learn.
The part you linked to IS NOT for that location. That is an ECM device for temp sensing/sending. In an '87 that location should be for a temp sender/sensing for a gauge.
Do you have the FSM (Factory/Field Service Manual) for your car? You need it!
Have Autozone or others use a GM# 25036135 to reference a correct sender/sensor for that location. gauge sender/sensor for that year should be a single terminal likely a spade but if it's been replaced a time or two already you could find something other than but a single terminal.
