I have owned my C4 since May 1990 and was 21 at the time, had put quite a few KMs on the car until I parked her in 1999.
In September 2022, got the car bug again after driving my Dad to a lot of cruises in his 1987 C4 convertible in 2022.
For my car I have almost completed my restoration with some of the parts listed below.
new fuel pump and sending unit
new injectors
new fuel filter
new fuel regulator
EGR valve
IAC
new K&N air filter
front callipers
front brakes and rotors
rear brakes and rotors
front upper and lower ball joints
front and rear shocks
new tires
new window regulators both doors
new power door locks both doors
This is the 1985 two-tone bronze my dad ordered new. It's has Z51, 4 + 3, cloth sport seats, and about 22K miles currently. I've owned it for over 25 years and added about 10K miles in that time.
I have to agree with you there , the two tones are way lower production numbers even though there are some really nice colours that make a corvette just pop.
Thank you. It is a 1985. I'm the original owner, (you can read the story here, if interested). Never-touched by power equipment, original paint. That is not a great picture, but its the best I have that shows the contrast between the two colors.
There was a thread just a few days ago by a guy with another med gray/blk 1986 like yours. The available 2-Tone schemes for 86 and 87 were IMO more masculine than the blue and bronze schemes in 84&85. I really liked silver beige/med brown, and the rarely seen white/silver was a departure from so many all-white C4s that were all over the place by 1986. 40 years later, a 2-Tone C4 screams "So 80's".
Thanks for starting the thread.
I have read your tale now on how you got into the Corvette, amazing story for sure and the attachment would be very strong.
With the original photo sent I thought the blue tint was some reflection and the car was same as mine. lol
Now I know you have the 20/23 combination , still looks sweet and I don't think I have seen one of your colours either in real time. I did see the post from the guy with the same colours as mine , its kind of why I started this thread and hope we get a bunch more C4 two tone pics.
I would like to find out how many 1986 two tones have certain changes/options on them, like aluminum heads ,Z51 , 4+3. (all of which I have )
Mine is also original paint as well.
Some of you might be wondering about the windshield as well.......yup that's duct tape.

side note - fairly sure the order process had a lock on 86-87 verts in two-tone, RPO-D84 . to the best of my knowledge, none exist. correct me if i'm wrong. always wanted to put one together though (silver/gray-black top) as a one-of-a-kind C4, however, i'd flip the orientation of the silver and gray.

I am not showing a code D84 available on the 86 specs.Silver Beige/Black was the only limited colour that was on 50 Malcolm Konner commemorative
The Silver/Grey combination had 1049 produced. When you are saying black top, you are referring to a convertible?

going by the black book - D84, two tone paint (coupe) is listed for the1986 model year. yes, black (convertible) top, but for my custom non-factory paint.
I am not aware of a hold on the D84, the only restrictions I knew about was you could not get a D84 convertible. All convertibles were solid colour.
Be curious if someone has this knowledge and will be able to input.
Here is my 1985. I purchased it in pretty sad shape from a friend about 3 years ago. It sat for about 15 years. It’s still pretty rough…not like the others in this post. Your two tones look great!
Personally, I really like the silver / black two tones. They are really sharp!

Looks can be deceiving to say the least. Mine has a lot of flaws and will stay that way, as I plan on keeping this Car as original as possible.
My interior is still fully apart, windshield is not installed yet either hence the duct tape.
The grey/ black was always my favourite as it was the closes combo to the 1978 25th

The car on display was identical to yours, could not believe how cool that car looks (just like yours) I also think the owner of the dealership kept it it was never sold
Welcome back! Congrats on getting your car back on the road & don't forget to wave!
Thanks for posting.
She's not quite ready for the road, have to get the new windshield installed. I live in the country and have taken her out on very small experiments though .
I thought it would have been ready for the 2023 car cruise season but as we know, the surprises we run into always turn up on these complicated C4's.
To say the least finding those parts we need when we realize there's a problem LOL
I love two-tones. When I went looking for a C4, I was mainly looking for a well-cared for example, color was secondary. I have really grown to love the two-tones because they are from a very small sliver of Corvette production history. No convertibles were produced in two-tone, but I would love to see one done up that way. Love all the pics! This is my '86, Z51, 62K miles.

Sweet ride for sure, show quality too. its so hard to telling the lighting but is that the grey/black like mine or the Malcolm Konner?
One other question for you, aluminum heads or cast iron if it is Grey/Black?
As you say the two tones are a small percentage of the builds for a particular year. Grey/Black 1138 and 3.2% of produced Cars in 86. 316 and 1% in Grey/Black for 87 , would love to find one of those for a playmate for mine. lol
